RT @NationalCareers: We are open 7 days a week which means w...
One week until half term and everyone is still striving to ensure individual student progress is made, whilst working hard to minimise the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak, by keeping to our current protective systems and measures.
As promised, we have been reviewing the way we operate, and we will be slightly amending the school day for middle campus students after half term. We aim to explain the changes to the students during virtual assemblies next week and we will distribute full details to parents/carers next Friday.
Could we please ask you and your families to do their part in ensuring our community remains safe and our school continues to operate. Please follow Government guidelines and reinforce school expectations at home.
REMINDER: Parents/Carers and visitors on site
We would like to remind all parents/carers that you must phone to make an appointment before coming on to site or arriving at reception. This is also the case if students forget equipment.
REMINDER: COVID-19 Webpage
If you have any queries about COVID-19 and Barnwell School, please visit our designated COVID-19 webpage. This page has information regarding our COVID-19 procedures as well as our school contingency plans, information guides and all previous parent/carer communication. https://www.barnwellschool.co.uk/covid-19-info-2/
REMINDER: Remote Learning
Earlier this week, we launched our new Remote Learning webpage which supports all students that have to self-isolate. All students have access to programmes of study, activities and weblinks that are in line with work that is being studied in school. Students access this work via their normal school log in details. https://www.barnwellschool.co.uk/remote-learning/
Face Mask Update
As outlined last week, the face masks, along with regular sanitising are the main way students and staff can help minimise the potential transmission of COVID-19. We are the only school in Stevenage to not have to send a year group home and it is essential we all do our part to keep it this way for as long as possible.
Many students are wearing re-usable masks but as advertised in government guidelines, it is essential that these are washed daily. With disposable masks, these should be thrown away at the end of the day and students should bring new ones each day.
Every year we have the opportunity to open the doors to our fantastic school at our Open Evening. Unfortunately, this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, this was not possible. Instead, we created several videos highlighting the outstanding provision we are able to offer children in our community. We would like to share these videos with existing parents and carers and please feel free to distribute to others that maybe deciding on the school for their children. The videos can be accessed by clicking this link.
Last week we had the pleasure of introducing Jo Lawson, our Chair of Governors to you. Barnwell School is very fortunate to have a strong and supportive Governing Body. The team consists of current and former parents/carers and other members of the community committed to ensuring we continue to deliver an outstanding provision to our students. This week, we would like to introduce you to another of our governing body by clicking on our Governor Spotlight link.
If you are interested in becoming a school governor, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Could we please remind parents and carers that due to the current structure of the school day and increased duties, on occasion, staff will not be able to return communication within the school day. A reminder of the school communication protocols set up last year can be found by clicking this link.
Barnwell Food Technology Instagram
Mr Mendelsohn has been making use of the Barnwell food Instagram this week with demos to year 7s and 8s. These have been shown on the screens in the classroom on the screen to all classes, and they have really enjoyed it.
