Well done to the following students who have already completed 100 hours in voluntary work towards their qualification:
Barnwell School team, 'Instinct' declared winners of 'Best Company' and 'Best Company 2015' at the Mid and North Herts final and winners of 'Best Teamwork' at the Regional final.
In September 2014, Year 12 students from Barnwell School were invited to participate in The Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge, a community initiative from the Centre for Voluntary Service (CVS).
Our team, Dragons Angels, was matched with a local business mentor (our Dragon), David McIntosh from McIntosh Ltd and a local charity, Stevenage and North Hertfordshire Child Contact Centre. The students were given £100 and challenged to "turn £100 into £1,000 or more". Our Dragon, David, has provided invaluable support in the form of advice and access to resources, to help the team achieve their business goal and funding target. All profits made by the team go directly to our allocated charity.
The students, between studying for examinations, organised numerous events to raise money, including making and selling Christmas cards, a sponsored silence, selling refreshments at parents evenings and carol singing.
Their given charity was Stevenage and North Herts Child Contact Centres. The students did a fantastic job raising just over £760.
In the Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday 25th March they were crowned Overall Winners for 2015. A fantastic achievement!
