Barnwell School recognised as meeting Ofsted’s ‘Strong Standard’

We are delighted that Barnwell School has been recognised as meeting Ofsted’s ‘Strong Standard’ under its new inspection framework.

Inspectors highlighted many strengths across the school, including our 'broad, increasingly ambitious curriculum', the commitment of staff to pupils’ welfare and readiness to learn, and the 'precise and effective interventions' provided for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

The report also recognised the quality of teaching, noting that teachers 'introduce new learning clearly' and make 'appropriate and carefully considered adaptations' so that all pupils can access the curriculum.

Most importantly, inspectors recognised that pupils who attend school regularly benefit from effective teaching and achieve well, developing the knowledge, confidence and communication skills that prepare them successfully for their next steps.
