Students at Barnwell

Parents play an important part in the life of the school. They are kept up to date with developments via Barnwell Bytes, our fortnightly newsletter - a copy of which is always available on this website.

We have two Learning Review Days each year where parents come in to school to discuss the progress of their child's learning. One takes place in the Autumn and the other in the Spring Term. In addition, there is one Parents Evening each year where you can come in to school to meet your child's subject teachers.

Day to day contact with the school is maintained via the students' planner. They carry this with them to all lessons and record extended learning in the diary section. We ask students, parents and form tutors to sign the diary each week to help them keep a record of their work in school.

In each weekly section of the planner is a space for parents and staff to write notes to each other and this is a very effective way to communicate on day to day matters.

For parents the form tutor is usually the first point of contact if there are any queries or concerns. Form tutors can be contacted via the planner or by contacting the school office.
