Year 7 - £1 Challenge!

£1 Challenge for all year 7 students
Once again Barnwell School is very happy to take part in Global Enterprise Week.
We are going to Challenge all of our Year 7’s to use all of their Enterprise skills by giving them each £1 and 1 week to make as much money for Children in Need as possible.
The week will start with a dedicated assembly on Friday 15th November at 2.45pm for all year 7’s. At the end of the assembly they will each be given a £1 coin, a list of rules and a challenge final sheet.
They are then expected to turn their £1 into as much money as possible. In previous years we have had students making in access of £200.00 in profit.
Some of the things they have done previously have included:
- car washing, They used the £1 to buy a sponge and some car washing liquid, borrowed a bucket and made some posters to go up around school to temp the staff into having their cars washed.
- making cakes They worked in a team thus combining the £1’s to buy ingredients to make cakes and then sold them to family, friends and staff at school.
- shoe cleaning They used the £1 to buy some shoe polish, borrowed the brushes from a nice Dad and the staff at Barnwell had the cleanest shoes ever for a whole week.
- raffle One previous winner used the £1 to buy some raffle tickets then got some prizes donated and made over £200 for Children in Need.
- Sponsored silence The students used the £1 to produce posters and information leaflets to let everyone know they could not speak. Some managed to keep this up for the whole week and I am sure their parents were very pleased with this.
In previous years this event has been wonderful with posters going up all around school and students selling their creations and services during break and lunch time, it really does bring a whole new buzz to the school for the week.
