Headteacher's Statement
An open Letter to parents
Dear Parents
When parents ask me if Barnwell is a good school, I tell them to look around and then ask themselves if they see happy children with a sense of purpose and a school where the atmosphere is 'right'. They are seldom disappointed. We have had a great success as a school in recent years and I am proud of the school and our students. Our success is based upon three simple principles which we call ACE - Achievement, Community, Environment. This is achieved by real teamwork; parents, pupils and staff working together. This partnership extends beyond the classroom and the sports fields and out into the community.
As headteacher, I, too, have clear views on what I want for the pupils at Barnwell. For me, success for the individual can only come if the pupil feels safe and happy and is given the support needed to perform well. That support will come from us - and, I hope, from you as parents.
Yours sincerely
Richard Westergreen-Thorne
