Food Technology

Each student rotates through each area of Technology participating in each subject area to complete both written and practical work.

Year 7

The students will learn to cook a variety of dishes:- fresh fruit salad, pasta sauce, sweet or savoury crumble, scones, pizza whirls.

The students will learn about the nutritional value of food, the job of nutrients in the body and the need for our bodies to stay healthy.

Year 8

The students will look at food presentation and the reasons behind it.

Students will look at staple foods in the counties they come from. They will see how staple foods are processed and used in cookery.

They will look at the law and the requirements of packaging and labelling food as well as the different types of packaging.

Year 9

The students will be reintroduced to the food technology room and review the use of different equipment and the safety and hygiene rules.

The students will take part in a design and make project looking at designing a new novelty biscuit.
