As and A level
History and AS and A Level provides an opportunity for students to achieve a number of things:
- Pursue a favourite subject at a higher level of understanding
- To learn more advanced ways of studying, organising and presenting ideas
- To learn to develop their skills in constructing arguments and interpretations in depth and detail
- To learn to work both as a self motivated individual and as a contributing member of a group
Students follow Edexcel AS and A Level History Syllabus. They will study England in the 17th century and France, both Revolutionary France, and France in the Nineteenth Century. The unifying theme for study is the issue of political change and the role of revolution in bringing about change.
Students will be assessed by examination and one coursework assignment.
In addition to the specific units of work, History will contribute to three areas of Key Skills: Communication, Working with others and Information Technology.
History is mainly taught in specialist classrooms with a wide range of resources.
