These courses will help you gain the knowledge, understanding and competency needed when considering employment in the health and social care sector. You will get experience of the essential skills crucial to this area of study,
BTEC qualifications
Within the faculty we offer BTEC Health and Social care at levels two and three.
BTEC First Level 2 Extended Certificate
This is broadly equivalent to 2 GCSEs and generally taught at Year 12 as a one year course and consists of four specialist units and one optional unit.

2 Individual Rights in Health and Social Care
3 Individual Needs in Health and Social Care
4 Ensuring Safe Environments in Health and Social Care
Optional Units
5 Vocational Experience in Health and Social Care Setting*
- Learners must complete 60 hours of work experience
BTEC First Level 2 Diploma
This is broadly equivalent to 4 GCSEs and is taught in Year 10 as a two year course and consists of four specialist units and four optional units

This is broadly equivalent to AS level and is taught in Year 12 as a one year course and consists of one mandatory unit, one specialist optional unit and one optional unit.

BTEC National Level 3 – Subsidiary Diploma
This is broadly equivalent to A level and continues on from the Year 12 National Certificate for one more year.
Learners must complete another mandatory unit plus two more optional units
