How will I know what class I have?

You are given a timetable at the start of the year which you keep in your planner. This tells you where and when all your lessons are. After a while you will memorise it but if you lose your timetable, you can get another copy from the school office.

Will I be with people I know?

There will be people you know in your class. You get put in a form with at least one person you know and have some lessons with the people in your form. Plus you will make friends with other Year 7's that are just as worried as you. Most people are very keen to make new friends.

Will I be with my brother or sister?

You may be put into the same house as your brother or sister but we can’t make any promises. If your brother or sister is in Year 8 or Year 9 you will be able to meet up with them at breaktime if you need to.

Occasionally the teachers let you off but other times you will be made to stay behind at lunchtime or afterschool - so it is important to do it!

Where do you go for lunch?

There is a school canteen and a deli-bar. There is a variety of food and you can order your food at break to collect at lunch. You can also bring your own packed lunch. You can eat in the hall or outside.

How much does the food cost?

You can get meal deals that cost around £2.00. You get some good food with a meal deal that would cost a lot more than if you bought them separately.

Will we be allowed to play football and basketball at Break and Lunch?

Yes, you need to bring in your own balls and there are basket courts, tennis courts and the field to play on. In the summer the nets are up so you can play tennis.

Am I allowed to bring in my phone/ipod etc?

You are allowed to have your phone with you at school but it must not be turned on in the school grounds. If the teachers see you with your phone they will confiscate it. You are not allowed to have ipods or anything else like that.

Are there any school clubs?

There are a variety of clubs at Barnwell. The teachers will explain to you what they are about and when they are when you start at Barnwell.

Which sports do you do at Barnwell?

You can talk to a lot of people at school. Any teacher you get on well with will listen and help you or your form tutor. You can also talk to your friends, buddies or the older children in your form that you will get to know.
