Swine Flu Guidelines

Sunday, 18th October 2009

The latest national guidance on swine flu advises schools to open as usual this term. Expert advice is that there is no longer a strong case for closing schools to contain the spread of infection. (2nd Sept) The NHS has issued a letter to all parents (Please see downloable file below)

Advice on Prevention:

It is sensible to take the following precautions to help prevent the spread of swine flu and other viruses:

  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible.
  • Dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully.
  • Maintain good basic hygiene, for example washing hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to face or to other people.
  • Clean hard surfaces (e.g. door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product.
  • Make sure that children also follow this advice.
