Design Technology at Barnwell School is taught to all students in KeyStage 3 and KeyStage 4 as part of the extended curriculum.
It is recognized nationally that all students have entitlement to a technological education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum. The aim of Design and Technology is to engender in students the capability that will enable them to be effective citizens in the 21st Century in terms of their understanding, dispositions and attitudes, transferable skills and vocation.
KeyStage3 (Y7-Y9)
Pupils study graphic products, resistant materials, systems & control technology, food and textiles.
KeyStage4 (Y10-Y11)
KS4 builds upon the experience of KS3 and allows an element of choice and specialism from:
- Graphic Products
- Resistant Materials
- Food
- Textiles
- Construction
- BTEC Specialist Diploma in Construction
KeyStage5 (Y12-Y13)
AS and A2 Advanced level courses are available in DT Product Design in graphics products & resistant materials.
