Learning Support
The support policy follows the guidelines set out in the Educational Act 1996.
This area is organised under the following headings:
- Pupils with specific learning difficulties
- Visually impaired pupils
- Students with statements of special educational needs
- Non-statemented pupils with learning difficulties
The Learning Support Department provides support for children who are subject to a statement of special educational needs or who have learning difficulties. Specialist support teachers together with teaching assistants, offer additional support within the classroom, sharing the planning of lessons, teaching, resource preparation, marking and discipline. This approach benefits all students, not only those with special needs. Additional support for students is also offered at lunchtime and after school, in the Learning Resource Centre, to help with extended learning work.
