York exchange part 2
On Tuesday 26th June at 5.00am we set off for York not knowing quite what we was going to find as the weather had been atrocious the day before and the trip had nearly been cancelled due to us not being able to supply our own canoes!
The traffic was heavy due to the weather and we final reached Burnholme College at 10.00am. The students soon got together and our students were given a tour of their school before we all set off to York City for the rest of the day.
We were taken to the city centre and had a tour on foot through the city ending up at the castle museum. The students spent about 11/2 hours going around seeing how York would have looked many years ago.
We then headed back into the town and the flooding was very evident as you looked towards the river and could see tables and chairs from café’s and pubs floating towards you.
This trip was the second part of our exchange and the students have all been in touch via e-mail
I am sure that this will continue well into next year and beyond. We are looking to further this exchange in the future with other activities planed between the two schools.
