The Winners
On Saturday the 15th December 2007 the ‘Barnwell bots’ robot team took on 13 teams from around Hertfordshire in the first ever Stevenage Robot Rumble. The team had been preparing for the event for the past two months building a robot afterschool that is capable of picking up hoops to put on posts, moving stands around and generally quite good fun to drive!
The first part of the competition saw us come 2nd after all the initial heat matches, which meant we were in the final!
The Barnwell Bots had to choose two teams to form an alliance to try and beat the Barclay team’s alliance. The best of three 2 min long robot matches would decide the winners. The organisers and judges hadn’t anticipated on a draw on the 3rd match, so it went to ‘robot penalty shot out’ if there is such a thing!
At the end of the tensest match of the day YES our team won, which was fantastic (we must say thank you to the two Cheshunt teams who agreed to be our alliances and to Iain Donaldson our mentor from MBDA).
