Enterprise Day 10th July 2007
Students make wanted posters
In Drama re-enacting the Murder
Mr Roberts (the murderer) being taken away by the police
Tuesday 10th July was a day to remember for staff and students at Barnwell School. Members of the school community arrived on both campuses in the middle of a murder mystery!
The six Assistant Headteachers were the key suspects for the (spoof) murder of Mr Westergreen-Thorne. The crime scene on both sites was cordoned off by the police and both staff and students were ushered into an emergency assembly.
A PowerPoint presentation set the scene and invited all students to work with the police and forensics teams to find the identity of the murderer. Students worked in their vertical form groups and participated in five activities throughout the day:
Science Forensics
English Newspaper reports
ICT/Maths Cryptography
Drama Crime scenarios
Art Wanted posters
At lunchtime visitors from Oaklands College, The police service and Connexions displayed career information and Hertbeat fm broadcasted live from the school.
The day was concluded with a final assembly outlining the findings of the case. Thankfully after staff and students watched Mr Roberts arrested, prosecuted and sentenced, Mr Westergreen-Thorne appeared on-screen with a message stating that he was alive and well and that Mr Roberts was in the clear.
For more details on the day, contact Mr Roberts or Mrs Coyte at school.
